Be Empowered for Life!

You are beautiful, bright and brilliant! You have purpose, potential and a plan. Only believe in yourself and you shall have what you say. You have the power of death and life in your words. Use your positive words to create the type of environment whereby you can be empowered, encouraged and energized.

It has been my experience that the more one is surrounded by positive people, doing positive things in life; the more uplifted you become to pursue your dreams. You absolutely cannot soar like an eagle if you are surrounded by chickens! Like attracts like.

Be encouraged TODAY to make a commitment to SOAR like an eagle. If you were to watch and study an eagle, this animal is very focused and determined when searching for prey. This animal has an unflenching desire once the object of his appetite is in view. Be like the eagle! Lay aside every weight, every hindrance that is keeping you from your goal and from excelling in greatness. The choice is YOURS!

Believe me when I say this: There is someone, somewhere in the world, maybe next door to you, sitting next to you or thousands of miles away, but there is a one or maybe millions that is in desperate need of the blessed gift that has been placed on the inside of you to go, grow and fulfill the destiny of your path in life.  Do you know that there is a plan for your life? The plan began in your mothers' womb (Psalm 139)! The mere fact that your eyes are focused enough to read this blog is evidence that there is a plan for your life!

The Selah Moment:
What is your passion? What warms your heart?  What is hindering you from pressing forward?

Action Steps:
Pursue your passion, lay aside those hindrances, take a step of faith, be prayerful, surround yourself with positive people and stay focused on your goals.

SPEAK UP AND EMBRACE YOURSELF

Many people do not share how they really feel because they do not want to hurt someone or cause problems. They rather live the kind of passive life that even if they are bothered, they rather not say anything and are content with being silently frustrated. There is power and strength in speaking out about those things that bother us. When one does not speak up, people will treat him or her any kind of way.

It is important to teach other how to treat us, otherwise, we cannot complain about what we allow. When one has low self esteem, he or she tends to think that their opinions and thoughts do not matter to anyone or that no one cares about their well bring. He or she rejects their own existence and impact. In most cases, that is not based on truth but assumption. Low self esteem can be turned into a true acceptance of self. We must get to the point where we believe so much in ourselves that we know that our opinions and our thoughts count, whether it is well-liked or not. We must understand and truly know that we can make a positive impact and contribution to society. Once we get to this point, there is no stopping what we can accomplish. It all starts with what you believe about yourself.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE

Job of the bible said it best, " The very thing that I fear has come upon me." Isn't it interesting how we can create horrifying outcomes of the situation of our lives and literally drum up a tragedy upon ourselves? Our mind is the most powerful tool that we have. What we think about life will be evident in how we act or respond to others. What you think about yourself will be evident in how you treat yourself and others. Whatever the mind thinks, the body will follow so it is important that we think good thoughts.

CHANGE - PART TWO

Change is good even when it seems bad. There is always a silver lining when change takes place in our lives. Oftentimes, we do not prepare ourselves for change. We allow our outer circumstances to determine our inner work. When things change around us that is beyond our control, we must look within ourselves and deal with the matter. Sometimes, I believe that change happens to show us ourselves.  It reveals our true nature, whether we can take it or not. It reveals our weaknesses and our inconsistencies. But when you embrace change, you realize that it really needed to happen and you are glad that it happened! Whatever may be changing in your life, view it from the perspective that it is a part if living and look for what can be learned from the experience.

CHANGE - PART ONE

The moment that you decide to change is when a great transformation can take place in your life!  By making a conscious decision to be your best self, your life will begin to be transformed in the direction of that decision. You will begin to line up with your decision. Internal determinations to change will only be effective if you are persistent and consistent in keeping your life on the transformation path to wholeness. As you grow and mature, your life should change. Your thoughts and actions should change. When you are a child, your thoughts, words and actions are child-like. When you are an adult, your thoughts, words and actions are adult-like. You look at life from the adult perspective. You understand so much more than you did when you were a child because you changed. Through the normal seasons of life, you are changing and hopefully learning new ways of living and discovering more of your purpose day by day. For example, When a seed is planted, a harvest is expected and after a while, a plant sprouts from where the seed was planted. The seed was transformed over a period of time. If the seed had not been planted, a plant could not grow. So it is with us, if our father’s seed did not meet with our mother’s egg, we could not even exist today, nor would we have had the opportunity to grow and experience the seasons of life. Change is all around us. On a daily basis, we see change and respond to it without even thinking about it. We change lanes while driving, go to different stores, changing parking spaces, trying something new at a restaurant, changing our nail polish, our clothes, our socks and shoes. It is only when change affects our emotions that we begin to fight it every step of the way. But change is not something to hate, It is a sign of normal living. God created us to be beings of ongoing change.

Love and the Domino Effect

Take several (about six) dominoes and stand them up vertically, put one behind the other and continue. After you’ve had at least 6 dominoes setup in this fashion. Tip one domino over in the direction of the other dominoes and see what happens…If you did this correctly; you just saw an effect, often known as “The Domino Effect”. Did you notice one domino fell on the other and this continued until they all fell?

The one domino that was tipped over is “Love”. Love affected all of the other dominoes. So it is with us. When we choose the way of love, we all win. It starts with one person. The love of that one person can affect a whole nation of people. So, never stop loving because someone, somewhere is waiting on a domino to fall on them. They are waiting for your “tip”.

Love is a tremendous gift that we all need.

Do your best

“All I expect of you is that you do your best!”

When I was in high school, my parents would sternly say this to me when I starting to slip up in my school work or when I’ve become lazy and unproductive.  Believe it or not, it took some pressure off of me because I did not have to be perfect; I just had to do my best. Have you ever found yourself becoming lax in an area of your life? Are you doing just enough to get by? Well, let me exhort you today not to do that. When you consistently do just enough to get by, you condition yourself to accept the mediocre. If you are never challenged beyond the scope of the familiar, you will never realize your full potential. I challenge you in that whatever you set your mind and hands to do, do it well.

Don’t settle for mediocrity, instead, strive to be above average and remember that what you do is representative of you, whether physically present or not. Leave a good legacy behind.

The Selah moment: Are you doing "just enough" to get by or allowing your children to do "just enough" to get by?

Action Steps: Begin doing more than the average person, set the best example to your children by being the above average leader!

It is in Your Hands

I know that it is September and 2008 has not arrived but I am posting this blog before the new year arrives. Preparation is a key to success.

The new year brings with it new visions, dreams, hopes, aspirations, opportunities, possibilities and potential. May I encourage you to be intricately realistic as you set your goals this year. Be patient, principled, focused and determined. Power and Ability has been given to you to accomplish what you cannot see with the natural eye.

As your faith is tested, you may begin experience refinement. When people and things fall away from you, don’t think it is strange. As you go to the next level, you will have to relinquish all hindrances to get to your healthy and whole place. It is always said, “ Have a Happy New Year” but I tell you that you can’t just have it.

You have to make it happen! You have to make some internal determinations to live a healthy life - spiritually, mentally, emotionally, financially and socially. You must decide and in making that decision, begin positioning and structuring your life to reflect that decision. Its in your hands so with everything that you’ve got on the inside of you---- I challenge you….I dare you to “Make it a Happy New Year!”

The Selah moment: Do you say "happy new year" simply out of traditionbut yet have no substance behind the phrase in your own heart and mind? Do you believe those words, anyway?

Action Steps: When the "new year" comes and you shout "happy new year", reflect on what that means for you and for the person you are wishing it on or better yet, speak a blessing upon his or her life for the new year...start a new tradition with your words of power!
